Reflecting on The Path to Liberation
As I embark on this story, I sit at my desk, where today’s writing journey begins. I sit with a straight yet relaxed posture, the way I do when I meditate. It’s surprising how much of a difference my posture makes while I write. A quick Google search tells me that “having good posture when writing helps you stay focused and concentrated, which boosts your overall well-being.” That sounds great, however finding the perfect setup is a challenge since my body can’t quite decide what feels best. This body is about to be 43 years old. I ponder how important, this body, this vessel, this posture will be as it accompanies me on the rest of my journey on earth. It’s exciting to start something new and embark on a journey with no idea where you’re headed, that’s where I find myself right now. I look up at the screen and notice the many typos I’ve made already. But this is the way, the freewriting way, and just as I have committed myself to the practice of meditation and yoga, I am committed to the practice of freewriting. I look over at our cat, Puchi, and realize he, too, is getting older. I think it’s time to transition him to wet food, he’s been eating so little lately. That is life, we live, we learn, and we get older. I contemplate some more and take in the fact that my son and I have been living in the same city for the past 8 years. I remember the day we moved, he was in the first grade, time flies! My son is now a teenager, more like “a young man”. I ask myself “how did I get here? What causes time to appear to move so quickly? It is no wonder your life flashes before your eyes right before you die, as many who have had near-death experiences can attest to.
