A 20+ Year Journey Toward Authenticity and Acceptance
I’ve always wanted to share my insights to inspire and empower others. Growing up in Miami, Florida, clubbing in my early 20’s was the thing to do. So, in a loud club, amidst a drunken haze, I often found myself in the women’s bathroom, preaching to younger versions of myself, usually upset over a guy. Before I knew it, the night was over, and women’s empowerment had become the theme. That was the ‘90s.
This morning, as I write from a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by the warm, sticky summer air, I ask myself:
Which younger self am I speaking to?
The one who didn’t feel like she was enough?
The one who worried too much and obsessed over every interaction?
Or perhaps it’s the one who allowed others to dictate her behavior and define her worth?
Ah, yes, that’s the one.
