Reconnecting with the Body: Mindful Practices for Emotional Well-Being
Feelings, whether they are sadness, fear, or anxiety, can be uncomfortable to face. As I look back, I can see that my resistance to facing these feelings would often result in a volcanic eruption, an emotional outburst of sorts.
If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be self-sabotage.
The younger version of me couldn’t face the feelings, and when an emotional outburst occurred, many would often say, ‘You’re so emotional,’ and it appeared as though I was feeling my emotions fully. But that’s not what it means to soften.
