For a while, I struggled to understand the concept of compassion and loving-kindness. It felt forced, and I didn’t know how to cultivate it authentically in a way that allowed me to open my heart and mind. I spent a lot of time being “nice” and putting myself in situations that didn’t feel right. It didn’t work because it wasn’t authentic. It was something I thought I needed to do.
