Embracing change with grace and intention
This morning, I came across a quote from Joseph Goldstein on the Waking Up App:
“Everything, all the time, in every moment, is becoming otherwise.”
It’s a profound reminder of the ever-changing nature of life.
As part of my morning journaling practice, I write this affirmation to help me stay grounded:
“I allow, accept, and surrender to what is, knowing it unfolds with Divine intention for the greatest good.”
This simple practice has shifted how I meet life’s challenges. When things feel difficult or don’t go as planned, I remind myself: nothing is permanent. What feels hard today might reveal its purpose tomorrow.
I can’t tell you how many times I have reacted impulsively to a given change in my life and later found out that it was all for the best. I’ve learned to carry these lessons with me to the present, and this practice really helps me keep that in my mind and in my awareness. But I can’t tell you that I’m always on point — obviously, I fail many, many times. Making this a part of my morning journaling practice has been the most effective way for me to train my mind to break free from its usual patterns and respond with more intention.
When was the last time you resisted something — a situation, a change, or a challenge — only to later see it as a blessing in disguise?
What if, instead of resisting, you allowed it? What if you trusted that even the difficult moments are part of something meaningful, something unfolding just as it’s meant to?
Consider writing your own affirmation or reflecting on Joseph Goldstein’s words. Starting your day with this intention can be a small but powerful way to shift your perspective and embrace life’s impermanence.
You don’t need to have all the answers. Trusting the process — trusting the impermanence of everything — can be enough.
Life is always changing. And in that change lies a quiet kind of peace.
